Attorney William Thompson Comments on Recent Dr. Derrick Todd Indictments
As lead counsel representing more than 200 victims, Attorney Thompson discusses latest criminal indictments
March 19, 2026
Attorney William J. Thompson was featured on several Boston area television news broadcasts this week commenting on the 20 new criminal charges against Derrick Todd, MD, the former Brigham and Women's Hospital and Charles River Medical Associates rheumatologist accused of improper medical exams and sexual assault of more than 200 women and men.

Attorney William Thompson, who represents more than 200 former patients of Dr. Todd in civil litigation, comments on NBC 10 Boston news report regarding the latest criminal indictments.
The new indictments are the result of a grand jury's findings and were announced by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, related to allegations by Todd's former patients at Charles River Medical Associates between 2021 and 2023. Todd was previously charged with 2 counts of rape, in January of 2025.
Thompson leads the civil lawsuits against Dr. Todd and his supervisors and was asked for comment on the latest charges filed.
Thompson described Todd to WBZ News,
"He was a master manipulator... grooming patients, giving them access, seeing them in the early hours, late in the evening, texting with them by cellphone privately."
Regarding the victims, Thompson said,
"It's a journey. It's day by day, and everyone is a survivor, and everyone is healing in their own way."
On NBC 10 Boston News, Thompson shared,
"There's power in numbers, and individually, these patients lacked that power —Dr. Todd had that power, and he abused that power. My clients, in the most vulnerable positions, put their trust in Dr. Todd, and he abused that, and he did it solely for his own personal sexual gratification."
Thompson countered Todd's lawyer, Ingrid Martin, who claimed her client's innocence and challenged any evidence with:
"They can put forth whatever they like at trial. Good luck."
